CHOOSING THE RIGHT MIRRORS:
We tested the A-Pod with three brands and types of mirrors. First, we used the mirrors we had installed before the soft door install, the Sizmik Embark mirrors. While the driver’s side is fully visible, the passenger mirror was obstructed from the driver's perspective due to the lower plastic OSP cover and material on the soft door frame. Note: these are vertically oriented mirrors, and if you’re not installing an A-Pod with no Honda fabric soft doors, these mirrors work great and are fully visible. The second mirrors we tested were from Xprite, and the passenger side mirror was still partially obstructed, but you could still see and use the mirror when backing up or to see what’s behind you on the trail. The last test and best mirror we tested for visibility was the Tusk Pivot Folding UTV Mirror.
In the kit, we provide 2- 10mm to 8mm reducer spacers to center the 8mm bolt in the 10mm bolt hole in the A-Pod bracket; most mirrors that use a single bolt to attach the mirror to a clamp will work with the A-Pod brackets. The Sizmik Embark uses a 10mm bolt and the mirrors we tested from Xspite and Tusk mounts with a single 8mm bolt. What we found essential for the visibility of the passenger side mirror was the distance from the base of the bracket (where it bolts to the bracket) to the edge of the mirror glass. The Tusk mirror was approximately 3 inches.
While we acknowledge that perfection with Honda Fabric Soft Doors is an ongoing journey, soft doors have proven to be a must-have for cold-weather comfort. We developed the A-Pod HSD for the simple fact that navigating trails without side mirrors can be downright dangerous, and we encourage the use of our specially designed A-POD HSD and side mirrors to complement your Honda Fabric Soft Doors, enhance your situational awareness and make backing down a trail a breeze, even in challenging environments.
